Frequently Asked Qestions
What is a 'kill-fee'?
A kill-fee is an extra protect for both the artist and the client. For you, it allows a set moment for you to suggest changes and ensure that you're happy with the final product. If you're completely dissatisfied with the product thus far, you can cancel with no hassle at this point.
For me, it protects me from unexpected cancellations after completing a painting. If we agree to finish the painting after the 75% point I'll collect the full payment from you, and then finish the piece. At this point the work is non-refundable. I include a complementary revision to ensure you have a painting that you love!
Are deposits refundable?
No, deposits are non-refundable. The deposit allows me to buy the supplies for your painting and covers the work that I complete during the sketching phase.
If you're unhappy with my work after the initial sketches revisions, I'll recommend a different artist to you, and you're more than welcome to keep the file containing the sketch.
Will you ever raise the final cost once we've agreed on a price?
No, never. When we talk and I give you a projection, I'll overestimate my time to ensure that you're well covered. I track the number of hours spent, and if I do come in under I'll refund you part of the overall cost.
I need a painting by next week! Can you help?
Possibly? Maybe? I ask that you allow me at least two weeks to set up an interview and a month to complete each piece, since I'm often juggling other work, but please email me and ask! I may be able to help. Rush jobs may require an extra fee.
